XD 9mm 5"
« on: November 23, 2015, 09:50:37 PM »
I finally decide to get a 9mm. Ordered an XD9 9401 from Buds. Wish I could have 16 round mags.
Should be fun though.

Congrats on your pick up. I'm thinking of another 9 mm myself.

XD pistols are great. My brother is running his XD Tac 40 as stock except for some nice grip tape that he also bought for me. My mom's XD is all tricked out with a Cmore red dot, trigger job, etc. My XD Service 40 is tricked out with bomar cut sights (dawson fo adjustable) magwell, very nice trigger, pistol gear slide release, larger mag release, grip tape, etc.

I used it for the dueling tree competition this weekend and last year, and did quite well with it. It fits my hand great.
Mine has a bit of wear on part of the frame after 30-40k rounds (I don't keep track) and I don't know if I even want to send it to Springfield. They are known to reverse good trigger jobs, if they didn't do it themselves. I thought about getting a 40 cal tac, but I would want a bitone version, if they have one. 9mm is good too, but sometimes lacks the power to knock around steel in the competitions where a light 40 cal load can easily hit harder than a 9mm, and yet still feel almost like you are shooting a 9mm.

I'm liking my XD9 4".  I wouldn't mind getting the 5" but I think next up is an CZ SP-01.
Glock 30 is the world's best handgun, I think we can all agree.  My mate told me the most tactical hardcore operators on his security team at the Yuba City Mall love the Glock 30 as the most advanced war machine since the Terminator.

Although XD pistols are popular here, I find them to be underrated. The triggers are much smoother in my opinion than Glocks. I've had nothing but 100% reliability so far thru about 1200 rounds in both XD9 and XD45.

Congrats!

I too own the 5" 9mm version and love it so much I might buy another to have as back-up. Recoil is almost non-existent as I've used it to teach others to shoot with, including my fiancé.

The triggers are pretty nice, but they don't really shine until you have a trigger job done by a great gunsmith, unless of course it is a defense gun, then I say leave it stock. If you haven't tried an upgraded XD trigger, you will either hate me or love me once you do, because you will want one. Even the glock trigger jobs leave something to be desired, IMHO.

I like my XD9 plus I also have the Advantage Arms 22lr conversion kit and that works great also!
Matter a fact the 22 conversion is on it right now.

Good night/fiber optic sight, and a Powder River Precision trigger will make it perform better.

In a compact, they look like a double-decker butter stick or two CZ slides.  Shoot great.  Stock trigger is fine.  If you ever move to a free state you can get 18 round MecGars.

I've been wanting one for a while now. There's a couple 4" XD9's in my safe, and a sub compact. I wouldn't mind a XD-45, the one I shot was smooth. Not as smooth as my 1911 Loaded, but for price I could almost buy two.
