when i first logged in (after migration) i thought the computer screen was on a high beam. ;D  but yes to hoping for the former style or closely resembles the old one. i'm an old dog kind of person so i very much want the former style for familiarity.

in any case, i'll settle with dark mode if the former style is not attainable although i have a feeling that we might get our wish.

I'm currently using the "Gradient" setting so a good part of the background is darker; but, I too would like things toned down a bit and not just in terms of the 'brightness' if you get my drift.
