Ca AR-15 Question...
« on: January 09, 2009, 08:25:15 AM »
I have a Vulcan receiver with a fixed ten round mag. The magazine is fixed to the receiver with an adhesive of some kind (its blue and squishy).

I would like to dissolve this adhesive and remove the magazine in order to install a ca legal "bullet button" magazine cache. How can I do this??

Is it possible to remove a magazine from a Vulcan receiver? Are there any pins or other devices that will prohibit me from tampering with a Vulcan receiver? Any information would be helpful!

I woul post this over on calguns.net in the gunsmith thread. I do not know anything about this confuguration, it sounds awefull weird that a mag would be glued in place. Never heard of it before.

The blue squishy glue is most likely silicon.
I don't know of any chemicals that disolve silicone.
Most people simply tear the magazine out and scrape out all the glue.
I didn't really enjoy taking showers with other men though I have done it
I move a lot...and drool....

heat gun to soften it up a little and some WD-40 to clean the majority of it off

the bullet buttons are very easy to install if you've got a decent toolkit - takes about 10 mins tops

I have a collection of military relics from 1918 to 1945 and have not refinshed any because it would hurt the resale value . That is what I have been told by my gun show friend and fellow collectors .

Honestly, there is nothing you can do to a Vulcan receiver that will hurt the value.

They are so notoriously bad you can't even give them away.
