BB gun for the win!
You bumped a seven year old post to say that?
Gotta do something while .net is down.
CSACannoneer wins the internet for today.
Chief, I know that there is no such thing as a stupid question, but the answer really depends on what you want do with the rifle.
If you're looking at just plinking at tin cans in the back yard with your 14 year old son, the .50 cal might not be the best thing. The recoil is kinda substantial. Your son will develop an incurable trigger flinch, the cost per round will bankrupt you, and your neighbors will probably call out the local constabulary. For that use, I'd stick with the .223, or even just a .22LR
On the other hand, if you need to resolve a "Serious Personnel Problem" in excess of 2000 yards, then the .50 would be a much better choice.
Asking such a question with no allowance for context really leaves it wide open for bored Calgunners to make mischievous responses.
Anyone know when the forum will be back up?
