Off Topic Discussion / Skool me on Country Style Pork ribs BBQ
« on: June 30, 2016, 03:51:27 PM »
Since I have you other CG addicts attention, can someone help me with country style pork ribs. Just getting my first offset smoker going. I have smoked/BBQed baby back, spare ribs and whole chicken on a vertical smoker before, but this is my first go-round with an offset.

Starting with mesquite lump charcoal, and either oak or grape vine wood.

But I could use some pointers on country style pork ribs, and even boston butt if you care to share.

Handguns / Took my Custom II appart. What the Swartz!
« on: November 26, 2015, 12:40:38 PM »
Detail stripped my Kimber Custom II today to try to get rid of some pretravel. I got rid of a little. Not quite as much as I hoped. Trigger is good, although seems lighter than when I started.

The biggest problem I had was reassmbly and getting the Swartz pin to function. It was sticking up, and would not completely move down. I am not quite sure what I did wrong, but I think I had the pretravel tabs overly adjusted before I bent them back a bit. Could that affect the Swartz lever? Doesn't seem so, but I can't think of anything else I did different after the last tear down and assemble.

As per it feeling lighter now, is this something to be worried about? I don't have a trigger pull scale, but it does feel lighter by a bit. Could just be my perception.

Learned a lot at least, and it will be easier to deal with next time.

TIA

So, in this video, he both claims that this is a secure screening process, and only 2000 refugees have passed. Both of these statements are in direct opposition to what the FBI and  DHS have recently said, are they not? They have created a very (not) convincing cartoon to explain things to us feebs who just couldn't understand on our own.

Since the attacks in Paris, many have asked about our process for admitting Syrian refugees into this country.

I understand the anxiety that many Americans are feeling right now. And as Secretary of Homeland Security, I share with President Obama the top priority of keeping the American people safe. So let me be clear about what this process of vetting and resettling refugees looks like.

It’s important to remember, we’re focused on admitting the most vulnerable Syrians -- this means mostly women, children and families.  Second, anyone who applies for and is approved for refugee status in the United States, including Syrians, must first go through a rigorous security screening process.

Taking in refugees at times of crisis is simply the right thing to do. It’s who we are as a Nation.
And we can continue to ensure our own security, while doing our share to welcome refugees fleeing violence, looking to America as their beacon of hope and freedom.

This is the United States of America. We can, we must, and we will do both these things.

Jeh Johnson is the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security
