How-To Keep up with Calguns.Net migrations.
« on: October 13, 2008, 08:22:12 PM »
Hi all, we're still doing some work under the hood at calguns.net. Big changes are happening, they will be incremental and involve DNS propagation. As such, a suggestion below if you want to stay tightly in the loop, so to speak.

Hello,
We will be doing some upgrades to the server and to the database sever here on Calguns. This may require the forums to be turned 'off' for a short period of time while the database is being worked on. We will try to keep these brief but we are working with computers.. ;)

While this is occurring the forums at calguns.org, http://www.calguns.org/forum/index.php will remain open and accessible and I will post updates as I get them on our progress.

We WILL be back, Thank you for your understanding and patience.
Kestryll

We are also upgrading the vB software.

UPDATE: to stay current as calguns.net is upgraded, some advanced users may find it beneficial to change your DNS server to: 64.151.108.221. This will let you track and follow calguns.net in nearly realtime as it goes live.

Here is a link on how to change your DNS server in windows XP (please change only the DNS settings, and you only need 1 DNS server for the time being.) CONSULT YOUR NETWORK ADMIN FIRST!

If this all looks like greek then DON'T change anything! -Admins

DNS changes can take as long as 24 hours to fully propagate.

Correct, most DNS should change within 1 hr, but could take up to 24 hours (or more if your host violates the RFCs.)

Fixing your DNS server as above, on the other-hand, should effect changes within minuets.

Folks, try this to help your PC resolve the new address:
START -> RUN... -> type "cmd" in the text field -> in the dos screen type "ipconfig /flushdns"
Then try to reload CALGUNS

Well the guy's over at The Gun Vault told me about .org am I glad too.

What ever it takes to get the New Supercharged bad a** version of Calguns up and running will happen in due time.

Satex..

I tried flushing cache and it didn't work. I guess Pacbell hasn't gotten the changes yet.
