When I was a student at UC Irvine, because of all the UC students protesting the Vietnam War and not attending classes, the Regents of UC. declared a one quarter/semester moratorium for those protesting students. Their failing grades would not count. I wasn’t a protester and stayed in classes. Pretty much all of the science majors stayed in classes
