The days of cheap AK builds are long gone -

Jacques - How much did it cost you to put together the VZs?

I have not actually sat down and figured it exactly. I am afraid to. My rough estimate was about $800 each. Now that I have all the stuff I need though, and the receivers are on sale for $229 at ORF, I am figuring about $600. That is receiver, $120 parts kit, $115 compliance parts (Which is a freaking joke, you have to grind the trigger down because it wont fit), $40 brake, $70 Dros, probably $50 paint and park. Plus other crap you run into. Drill bits, barrel vise, etc. etc.

I could have bought one for the price it cost to build one. But then I did it myself and it was a fun project.

I agree on the fun factor - Now tell me - The 922 or something rather parts compliance, are these parts stamped with made in USA or how the hell can one tell if they are or not us made parts.

The parts are so different then the foreign parts, there is no mistaking them. I kept receipts for everything also. But they are not stamped US made.

Sons, Girlfriends mom went to bed. She just flew out from Chicago and said it is snowing there. Must be freaking cold.

So at least she went to bed. She actually started talking about Obama and my son and I jumped all over that crap. She did not like that, oh well.

He has plenty of time to stay on the net and find deal - I second the motion, though he will still be responsible to holding down the fort -

There is a guy on theAKforum who is PM'ng me and asking questions like:

Does ORF ship VZ58 receivers to California?

How did you get magazines in California?

I tell him to go to Calguns.net, because he is from California. I wonder if he is DOJ or something.

Not at all -

Here's my take - Most out there do not trust the police - Rampant corruption everywhere - It's not a job folks look up to - Public servants are look down on.

I was working in San Jose in the 80s - was approached by SJPD and try to recruit me to be community liason - At this time, there was not a single Vietnamese in the dept. - The community had little trust in the PD. I had turned them down because I had to be in uniform for at least  a year before I would begin my assignment - It's the uniform people don't trust.
