Well saigon tell me something about that its a 1911 GI springfield, its pretty cheap , so maybe a good chance its an old (Im stupid) 1911? maybe used in a war ?

Silly boy...
Springfield Armory never made 1911's for the govt.
The "springfiend armory" brand name is NOT the same springfield armory that made rifles for the military.
It's just a confusing name that plays on the history of the old ordinance depot at springfield...

I did not know that, you live , you learn, i have much to learn still ...

The new SA using the old name has always bugged me a bit.  And SA should stand for South America, where many of the 1911 frames and such were/are made in Brazil.  The XD taking off once it was marketed by them and not as some weird Croatian thing was weird too.

Randall can make smores.  (and teepees, lol)  I wonder if his campsite got rained out?

Most of the rain was while we were still in the tents.
It did rain on me at the 22 sniper match though.

If it ain't rainin, you aint training...

Any teepees under the blankets in the tents?  Smores?  I bet Lil Bean has never had a smore.

You got teepees on the brain.
:) Thank you Sir, may I have another ;)

I think I may have some work for you soon. It envoles drilling a hole to pin a break onto a thread barrel.

I do several of those a week.
I have carbide drill bits for hardened muzzle devices too.

Burt loves oatmeal and pigeons for some reason.  I have seen Burt and Ernie take baths together :o

Saw that last night,Randall will be sad.

I'm mad, not sad.
If I can't convince Kes to re-open the subforum, I'm starting a new forum just for precision rifle stuff.
I already have the website setup and hosting ready for it too.

Yeah as you can tell at teh bbq i was asking you and saigon how to cock and decock the semi's

Semi auto handguns can and do work in many different ways,w or w/o grip safeties, safeties that work in different directions, mag disconnects, lack of slide stops, ect...

I know little of AR's to be honest.

It appears that was your 1st time BBQing as well.  I can do that as well, maybe next time I will cook a little if Ojisan lets me!

What do you weld with oxy/acetylene?

Mostly cutting and forming/bending.
Sometimes it's a good solution for things that are too thin, but the more I use the tig, the less I use the oxy-acelylene.

Every 5 years.

You are like me, when reading over the old posts and responding to them, sometimes someone already answered the ?!  Mine expires at the new year, I sure got my moneys worth out of it, I probbaly only added a $1 or so to the cost of every handgun I acquired in the 5 years.

So dumb I have to retake test and that my old BFSC exemptions don't work.

We all learn all the time.

When I show a firearm to somebody, the first thing I do is check to see if its loaded.  Then show them how to check to see if its loaded, then have them show me that its unloaded.

Safety checks and helps get the noob familiar with the operation of the firearm.

Are the full on Volquartsen build worth the money?
I like the laminated stocks and all....

Can you give us a break down of parts?

What ammo do you use for your matches?

If you like the setup that Volquartsen offers, then it's probably a good way to go.
I prefer to build myself to spread out the investment over more time.

10-22 Action
Volquartsen  hammer
My action job including over-travel and sear pre-travel setscrews.
Polishing of fire control parts
Polishing of bolt to smooth out action
Bell & Carlson "anschutz thumbhole" stock with the barrel channel free-floated (still need to bed the action)
Alluminum pillar & stud added to use Harris S-BRM bipod off my 308
Flush mount sling cups to use my QD Tactical Intervention m24 sling off my 308
Green Mountain 20" fluted stainless barrel re-chambered with a Bentz reamer
Game Reaper one-piece scope mount (I milled 20 MOA of elevation into the base)
Nikon Buckmasters 4.5-14 Mil-Dot side focus scope.
