thanks for the tips guys, for somereason i though GI meant miltary use or something lol , looks like il skip on that, what about garands ? what do you guys think of these , serial number and everything

Sevice Grade from CMP is $595.  My sevice grade rifles looked almost new.  A little bluing wear, that was it.  I'd wait to get my C+R and spend a little extra money.  But, those are great prices compared to what others are selling them locally for.

Rack and Field grade are a bit more worn, and can be had from CMP for $450-$500

like actual 1911's used in WWII ?

no, they just have rifles.  I was talking about the Garands.

You will not be able to find war time 1911 for anywhere under 1300 - Most everything are modern day - Colt did a remake of a 1918 IIRC - That was recently sold on .net for IIRC 1500 -

That's additional DROSed fee -

what do you mean , $35 more for the dros right ?

Well saigon tell me something about that its a 1911 GI springfield, its pretty cheap , so maybe a good chance its an old (Im stupid) 1911? maybe used in a war ? How would you be able to tell, serial number ?

I know my name's not Saigon, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night.

The Springfield GI's aren't that expensive, $500-$525.  I got mine on sale from Turner's in nickel for not much more.  And, it's not rare by any means.  You could pick one up anywhere when you turn 21...

The GI's are very basic.  I wish mine had bigger/better sights.

I saw the one with the mis-matched handguard - Nice weapon - He had added the second one - Guna had said that they are well worth what he's wanting - The guy will not budge on the price either -

You guys had fun at the BBQ? Wish I could have been there. Those Garands are so tempting. Everyone at the gunshows think their Garands are made of gold.

Did it rain on your parade?

Both mornings I awoke to rain on the tent.
Saturday, we got rained on pretty good at the 22 sniper match, but I still managed to win.
I didn't really enjoy taking showers with other men though I have done it
I move a lot...and drool....
