It's only a .308win so I think it was operator error ;D  Just needs to be set up correctly as noted.

Lordy, I've got a Rem 700 in 7mm mag

Talk about putting the hurt on.  One shot gave me the worst rug burns on my elbows...

I want to hear any rug burn stories you have, by PM if necessary.

You need a way to clearance smashed-in fenders and they don't allow generators to run power tools.
So, it's either cordless tools or cutting torch...

Better than Eley or just better in your guns in particular?

Cheaper, and more than accurate enough to win the matches I shoot.
I see no need to spend $180 a brick for Eley Tenex...

Can you explain to me what is involved in free floating a barrel/stock and glass bedding??

Google is your friend.
There are many good articles explaining the specifics.
It's just different on a 10-22 as you only bed the front of the reciever and the rear of the barrel.
I'm making up a special pillar as the one in the Bell & Carlson stock came loose the first time I tightened the action into the stock.

I put a rug burn on a girls tramp stamp, in the back of my truck.  The tat was new, and it got an ink smear on my truck seat.

No shotshell reloading?

I don't shoot enough shotshells to justify the cost.
If I were shooting ducks or shells that are expensive, I would, but I shoot plain old #6 lead for most things.
At $4 a box, you can't even cover the cost of shot, primers, wads & powder to load them yourself.

I need to, I like weird calibers/gauges like .410 and 28ga and 16ga and 10ga.  I'm not seeing basic 12 and 20ga cheaper than $5 and change a box often and I hear if you are serious, you can turn out real good quality shells for cheaper than Win AA as an example.

Midway has pricing.

I want to really accurize my Savage.  FMJBT was dinging steels at 1000 yards with his.  Cold bore at that, too.  He knows so much more about long range shots than I'll ever know.  He was reading the winds at different yardages, knew exactly how much elevation he needed...

I did notice that he had 4 rings holding his scope instead of two.  Each ring had 4 screws, 2 on each side...

That's why you wear elbow pads when shooting a high-recoiling rifle on a bench or in prone.
You don't have that problem standing up.

I want to really accurize my Savage.

Just quit now and get a remington.
Save yourself all the money you will waste on the savage before getting a remington anyways.
At the minumum, you will want to replace the barrel and the stock with better quality parts.
The cost of doing that will just about cover the cost of a Remington 700.

I bought a complete imported torch set for $100 off ebay.
I got tanks off ebay as well and met the guy to pick them up.
I think the Oxygen is a 130 and the Acetylene is about a 90.

I hear you, this is my hunting rifle, I won't drop a bunch of money into it.  Besides, just like you and the Volquartsens, I'm spreading out the money I spend.

You'll need to feel it to believe it.  The action feels so much smoother than the Remington 7mm.
