I had a situation where we went in front of an arbitrator - The employee did not deserved unemployment - Brought her kids to the hearing, went without make up - The damm arbitrator ended siding with the ex-employee - Really burns me.
So not showing up for work and under performing gives them the right to collect - No wonder we are in the crap hole we are -
Well, at least it's not Xmas yet and they can get unemployement.
I don't think most people know how unemployment actually works.
It's not just free money from the govt.
The business pays into a fund.
Employees have to petetion to pull money from that fund.
Employers/Employees get a hearing where an official decides if the employee gets unemployment or not.
They always do. Have you ever been able to have a claim denied.
We have gotten several claims denied.
You have to have all your ducks in a row.
We don't fire people until there are documented complaints and written notices etc...
One person applied after she quit to move out of state.
Her stated purpose for quitting was that she met someone out of state and was moving there.
She actually tried to collect unemployment though... WTF?
