Great idea.  Y'know, I hadn't thought of that.  But, why not 80% built parties?  Amongst us gun enthusiasts, we probably know enough people with machine tools to get together and roll our own from 80% lowers indefinitely.  We need to find some guys with the expertise to start this, then the rest of us with a bit of machine tool experience  can spread the knowledge--just like the AK building got going.

I have been known  to be handy with metal working so I am going to give it a shot, I am saving up right now for a 80% jig and a few blanks.

Generally, the Universals are considered t be junk.
However, there are some made with military surplus parts that are ok.
The ones with the stamped op-rod are the crappy ones.
If the one he's selling has a military op-rod, it's probably a good one.
Get it for $300 or less.

If it has a stamped op-rod, avoid it altogether.
