Found one in .308 flavor - Please shed some lights on it - Read about not functioning properly, gas issues, ect. Thanks in advance.

Wasn't the French, the importer, Century Arms converted some and some of the MAS36 bolt actions to this caliber. Most people report the conversions suck.

Very few or prototypes I believe, not general issue.  Some(few) of the MAS36 rifles were converted to a sniper rifle in 7.62x51 as well, the FRF2 IIRC.

I have an Numrich catalog from around the year 2000 or 1999 and you wouldn't believe how much they were selling the MAS 36's for. IIRC they were going for $36.99 still in the mummy wrap.
:) Thank you Sir, may I have another ;)

Thru my research - Yes, they were selling for that little - I'll get some pics up later -

You can make a pretty profit selling it in today's market.

I don't mind paying what I did - Normal course of things. Now to look for an 49/56 next. Anyone have one for sale before I spend money elsewhere?

I think MAS 49/56 has a grenade launcher that has to be removed in CA, I'd like to have a MAS 49, missed one around $200 in 2005.  If I see a MAS 49/56 I will let you know.  I'd stay away from the Century Arms converted .308 versions.

As with most milsurp items, if you miss buying them during the time they were imported, they tend to get expensive later.

French milsurp is not particularly popular though compared to US items so you may do ok.

Saigon, I reccomend you check out the sale forum and French forum at gunboards.com
