Slow downs and outages on CGN
« on: January 01, 2023, 05:52:23 PM »
As of today our host company, GeoVario/Professional Edge, is shutting down their hosting business.

Because of some personal family issues I was delayed in finding a new host and getting us moved.

GV/PE is keeping our servers alive beyond the close of business while we arrange the transfer but with the other servers going down we will likely have some periods of slow loading or relatively brief outages.

Likely this upcoming week we will be moving to the new dedicated server which will mean a day of being offline between moving and the DNS repopulating.

"The problem with ‘post-modern’ society is there are too many people with nothing meaningful to do, building ‘careers’ around controlling the lives of others and generally making social nuisances of themselves. They justify their meddling by discovering social ‘problems’ and getting the media to mag

Hey at least you got to use your.net name. I had to change my name slightly because way back when I logged on here years ago I think I used an email I no longer have. Or some kind of other technical issue above my pay grade.
It's all for the best because no one will know who I am now with my cleverly disguised new name.

And remember before you go smite-ing Anyone, remember the famoum faux prophecy about smite-ing...
"Yo verily I say unto you, he who smites first is surely to get shmoted back upon himself. The path of the righteous smite-ing man is beset on all sides
By the inequities of the schmoted and the tyranny of English grammar correcting men.
Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will and should probably stay out of OT, he
shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, and all of it schmite-ing,
For he is truly his brother's gun keeper and the finder of all lost i-Trader
And I will smite down upon thee
With great smiting vengeance and furious smoting anger
Those who attempt to smite and smote my brothers
And you will know my name is the head Janitor
When I lay my smite-ting upon thee."

:)

I made it back on to .org, had to reset the password, was also associated to an old email, but I still have access to that one.

Good luck on getting things switched over.

Well, like a boomerang, returning to be smitten again.

(I checked here a couple of days ago to make sure I still existed).

Good luck on the .Net upgrade.

Respectfully
Kyle

Compared to the current Calguns.net status, with whatever transitions are going on, this Calguns.org site is nice and quickly loads.  Of course, there are not many/any current threads going on here.

Otherwise, thanks for having this site which lets me know Calguns, in any configuration, is still in business:)

My user name is so original that no one thought to use it here, so I got lucky. Well, at least we have a Plan B if there is ever trouble on the main site.

^ Well, "someday" is today, so you picked a good name.

That's right Calguns great-ish migration... through the desert, over the hills, a quick shortcut through the ocean, a quick stop at a dead Mall and then onto the new promised web server thingy hosts new home.

And you know what you don't do in the desert you don't go smite-ing any other desert travelers.

But maybe I'm just saying that because I haven't earned enough points to smite people yet?

:)

Like they say at an open Stargate,
"I'll see you on the other side, I hope."
