How hard is it to replace a garand barrel?

Just takes a barrel vise with the special bushing and an action wrench.
The barrels are timed so the new one just threads in and should stop in the right place.
Then you use a pull-thru reamer to finish ream the chamber while the new barrel is in the action.
The bolt applies cutting pressure to the reamer while you turn it with a rod sticking out of the muzzle.
When the bolt cams closed, stop reaming as the chamber is just the perfect depth now.

I was thinking, at CMP they sell the barreled receivers for $125. Might be worth it to just buy one of those, replace the barrel and buy all new parts for it.

If you need to go the cheap route, you can use WD-40 for cutting aluminum.
:) Thank you Sir, may I have another ;)

You should only shoot military type 147/150gr loads, or equivalent reloads.

How should i know what grain it is ? Do i just buy from one specific vendor person , is it hard to tell ?

Medcon is a medium contour.
It's a 1:7 chrome lined barrel.
I may also have a 1:8 stainless heavy barrel.
