well everyone in this thread now knows how the karma works but for those who are new here

You cant give Karma until you have made 50 posts here

after that you will either applaud or Smite someone usually based on what they have said

you are limited to one Karma (either smite or applaud) per person in a 1 hour period

you may change your mind in that period and change what you gave them

I've seen that happen before.  I've never given anyone a negative and I don't understand why some get off on the tiny power it gives them, but there's no reason for 'karma' to exist as it provides no useful feedback.
