What is your first world problem today? (.org edition)
« on: August 20, 2024, 11:26:22 PM »
I miss reading minor complaints about our first world problems from the .net thread.

I will start first.

I have a $20 coupon at Newegg, but I have no idea what to buy.  I will probably end up buying something I don't need or use just to take $20 off a $100 item.

I bought a carving knife&fork/cutting board/sharpener set with Target gift card, items arrived box damaged, missing the carving fork.  Target refunded my gift card balance, no return needed.

So repeat, hopefully only the knife is missing next time!

Friggin someone used the last Kirkland azz wipe, didn't open a new pkg and place in the proper caddie location next to the King's Throne.

Welcome to lower middle management - more responsibilities but without the pay.

I've used hotel washcloths for this. Think about that for a minute.  ;)

Trying to find a Marshall guitar amp cover that for some reason is hard to find for a particular size and newly made amp. I found one place in the UK that has one in stock, and they ship world wide. Tried to order it and it says it's unavailable to be shipped to my area.

Fine, whatever...it's probably because it doesn't have a lame prop 65 warning on it. Entered a different address in TX. Nope, same thing. Tried a random address in a different state, same deal. Uhg sucks, I gave up.

There's one on ebay in Canada, but I'm not paying the price of the cover plus $70.00 shipping for a freaking vinyl cover. >:(

I gave my computer a mid-life upgrade.  Replaced the 500GB NVMe drive with a 1TB drive.  Replaced 16GB RAM with 32GB RAM.

My problem is I overbought the NVMe drive.  It is rated PCIe 4.0, but my computer is only PCIe 3.0.  All that extra performance is not realized and I could have saved $20 with a slower drive  >:(

It's okay. The beauty with PC hardware is that eventually you'll need to upgrade your MOBO and you'll then be able to utilize PCIe 4.0 speeds with the drive. It may be a few years, but hey, at least you'll have it. :)

Hot water heater died last night, and Labor day weekend.  Add to that, my usual plumbing guy is nowhere to be found, and I am too old and unfortunately not up to installing one any more.

I really don't need cold showers any more...:)

Are A. O Smith or Bradford White still the go to water tanks?  I am finding there are a lot of brands/models that CA says no-no to also.

Why do you heat hot water?

The deli was out of sprouts for my Cranberry Gobbler sammie today. Had to double up on the fresh leaf spinach. Sad face.

It's the one that wasn't spotted that you need to worry about...

Haha! They sent out a second message later in the day saying "There is currently no alligator in sight in the spring swimming area. Please be watchful if you go swimming."

In other words, "we didn't catch him and he's still out there...somewhere."  :o

Well, .net site is literally unreachable today.  It was doing pretty good over the last 3 days.  I could browse somewhat during the day and browse without any issues late at night.  Not today  :(

Seven days later? SAME THING.

This has become ridiculous. Literally.

Someone else thinks it's due to bot attacks. Seems a little more than plausible.

I'm starting to think it's a site hack/attack situation.  It doesn't seem to have any correlation to the number of 'guests' when it goes down.
