Like Starliner, CGN will only be saved if Elon sends a Crew Dragon.

It's official. They are stranded in space until February when SpaceX will have to go rescue them.

At least there is .org

Why don't the others just use it in the meantime?  Stubbornness? Because of some principle?

A risk for Boeing, a risk for NASA.

Who will have the last laugh if Boeing returns it without incident like Boeing claims is likely?

A black eye for overabundance of caution NASA?

They are going to gave crotch rot by then. I wonder how much clothes they packed for a 8 day trip? Typically the change underwear and socks once a week and other clothes once a month. There's no laundry service.

I noticed a long time ago that if you clicked on "new posts" (or threads?) at .NET most of the new posts weren't in OT but other categories.  There are always more posts in all the other forums.  IOW, people do most of their posting in other than OT.  All the other forums get a lot more usage on .NET, those people aren't really going to come to .ORG to get the latest bouncing boobs avatars or the latest fights over Putin vs Ukrainie.  I think they rather discuss litigation, 2A politics, hand guns, rifles, etc.

They are already on day 79. The spaceX launch won't be for another month before they send up more supplies to last then till February.

They are already on day 79. The spaceX launch won't be for another month before they send up more supplies to last then till February.

They had a resupply August 4, the Cygnus NG-21 mission. That was the expendable container - ISS supplies up, then filled with trash and dumped to burn up in the atmosphere. I'm sure there was a package of fresh tighty whities on the manifest.

They also touched on this at the press conference. ISS maintains a four month reserve of crew supplies. This reserve will be topped off the next resupply. Plus other supplies will be sent on the upcoming Crew-9 Dragon.
Quote
Meanwhile, The SpaceX Crew-9 mission, launching in late September, will carry additional cargo, personal effects, and Dragon-specific spacesuits for the stranded astronauts while taking only two passengers instead of the planned four. This mission will dock once the Starliner departs, freeing a port on the ISS.
...
Wilmore and Williams will continue their work formally as part of the Expedition 71/72 crew through February 2025. They will fly home aboard a Dragon spacecraft with two other crew members assigned to the agencys SpaceX #Crew9 mission.

Brings up an interesting question, how do they bathe in zero gravity?  If there's a shower they could wash clothes in it also, then air dry.

In other words, those two stranded in ISS are in better shape then us castaways marooned at .org. At least they know they know rescue date.

I remember reading scifi way back, probably in a Heinlien youth series novel, that all they have to do is put the dirty clothes in an airlock (tied down), open the hatch and the vacuum of space would vaporize all the nasty bits and smellies. Sounded plausible to me but then, I was a gullible kid.

They don't, other than using wipes and a special shampoo. Water is too valuable. Clothes don't get washed, just put into the resupply capsule and burned up in the atmosphere.

Considering what happened with .net on Sunday/Monday, I think we need to define what "up" or "down" means.

Last night it was fast, then all of a sudden no page would load.  It's been spotty this morning also.
I was only reporting to this thread that the website is no longer in 'maintenance/down' mode, can't speak for the speed.
YMMV

I'm having the same issues as everyone else.  Super fast, super slow, time outs.  I did notice the ads were showing on top of the page which I never saw after the switch to the new vB before.

What does a database like this require?  I have always thought processing power is not as important as access speed.  Old mechanical hard drives would kill this website.  New SSD should greatly increase speed.  Just how much CPU power does this website require?  It's hard to imagine a website like this requires more processing power than a modern game.
