I think .Net will survive if, and that's a big IF it gets up and running before years end, or shortly after.  The new site with a similar name may get some of the buyers and sellers but for general gossip, news, and of course 2A related topics both national and local, Calguns is the go to site.

There is also a certain amount of camaraderie overall with many long time members.  Of course some will leave for the new site, but I think for unrelated marketplace items but for news and info, Calguns will see some play between both sites.

I'm neither a buyer/seller so Calgun suits my needs...when it works.  The last couple of years has been trying, and a lack of communication adds to the frustration.

Maybe soon...

Respectfully

Kyle

And yet, you of all people did not post boobies in this thread.  See what I mean?  Did you forget?

Years end is generous I think.  Just the fact many have jumped ship already, people who have been here 20 years says a lot.  Then, imagine a new member who finds every time he tries to log in it takes hours to do it.  He doesn't have any history or loyalty and won't stay.  Its almost 2 years, that is a long time for anyone to hang on.  I wonder if keeping CGN alive all those years wasn't just a drain for Kes.  I don't think he made any money off CGN, AFAIK he has a regular job which if CGN made tons of money he might not have.  If it becomes a burden after years I can easily see CGN just becoming a PITA and a hassle to put much time into it.

Swalt, I agree with you, especially about "new" folks seeking info on arms related subjects.  Case in point.  I've known my postal carrier about 30 years and he was a screaming democrat/union/firearm hating gent.  It took me just about 20 years to convince him firearms aren't bad.  Long story short, he now owns a couple of hand guns a shotgun and stocking ammo.  He even goes to the range and took some kind of class, which surprised me.

For years I suggested he log into Calguns instead of relying on me for answers to questions/laws/etc.  A while back he tried signing on and never got a confirmation email after several tries.  That was the end of that.

We will definitely frustrate new comers and they will seek other sites.

Kyle
