What does the Karma +/- mean under the user name?

I believe it's intention was originally to be something like the I trader rating system so you know which Calguns you can trust in deals.
obviously it's more primitive and not as refined as I trader and now it's more or less been ruined for that type of use because people are just giving each other good and bad, for nothing.

IMO, it has no function - we all get random +1 / -1 's. Mostly negs. Take it with a grain of salt.

On Thumpertalk it's "gas cans" and when you get enough negatives you run out of "gas"
When you run out of "gas" you are automatically temp-banned pending moderator review/reinstatement.
For the most part, it did nothing but create butthurt.

I am a "global moderator" and I still cannot give karma. I have negative karma and do not even know why... I have never pinched anyone over here
