No crazy and overinflated prices for me.. I'm going to hit Vegas next time...
C'mon Oji.. Vegas trip!
Nevada. Free America!
There's a show at Santa Fe this weekend.  I heard it's worse than usual.  The same vendors with even less to sell and higher prices they won't budge on.  I'm not going.

If you guys head out this way, let me know.

Quit drinking almost 2 years ago.  It was among the lifestyle changes I adopted after a heart attack.

Drink one for me and savor it before circumstances change your priorities ;)

I don't understand the raising price because I'll be out of inventory - Wonder if I can do that at the restaurant? Almost out of ham and don't know when I'll get more so your sandwich will now be 12 dollars -

LOL--give it a try and let us know how it works!  Personally, I bet you'll get a lot of the same complaints we're seeing over on .net.

Vegas - Those are crappy prices for out there -

Yes they are--that's why I didn't buy anything.  All the small dealers are saying the don't know when they'll get any new stock, so prices are up.

Okay, back home in Vegas--had to come back a day early.  I was early enough some pawn shops were still open in Kingman, so I took a look.  One tired old SKS (I didn't bother to actually check what it was: mising bayonet and in plastic stock) $300.  Used HiPoint 9mm carbine $200.  Another SKS--I didn't look at this one at all, but it had a bladed bayonet and wood stock so it was probably pretty must as issued $350

2 ARs in the shops I was in both over $1200. One Saiga 7.62 with 30 rd mag bipod and pistol grip $650.  I saw no AKs  or .308 semis.  If you ask, I might remember more.  The only ones open when I cam through were on Beale St.  I don't normally check Kingman, but with the new situation, maybe I will.  I'll be back through in a couple of weeks.

Did anybody do anything exciting this weekend?  And yesOji, the weather was beautiful all the way.

Get some sleep and have fun tomorrow Guna -

Vegas - That's high - But oh well in this economy - LOL

What were the ARs going for? Curious -
Only one AR on the racks--$1200
FAL--$1725
2 M1 Carbines $625 and $550--neither one original, one blued and refinished stock, the other was so beat up it looked like one of those Big5 carbines.  FN2000 didn't look at; KelTec Sub2000 9mm Glock grip was $500--that's all I remember.

Home, ate, shower and now to catch up on things and get back to the grind tomorrow -

Vegas - How much were those mags?

Hope everyone had a nice day today -

He only had 3 left and they were $29.95, higher than I've ever paid, but I bought them anyway.  Pretty good shape, plum East German.  He had plenty of AR15 20s & 30s and a bunch of ak47 mags too.  The few shops I was in had semis too--not completely cleaned out.

Seems like a lot of folks are not out shopping - I am here working at the mall and we are quite slow - Lets see how the day pans out for us -

Hunting sounds cool for tonight -

You can still find stores that are not gouging -

I just got back from Arrowhead Town Center, one of the malls in Phoenix and it was packed.  There was almost no parking and Bell road was bumper to bumper crawling.  I didn't buy a 10/22 either.  Dick's had them for $180 and Sports Authority had them for $175.  But I found  3 Ak74 mags at a gun store on Dysart just south of bell and bought them instead.  I may go ahead and check out some gun shops in Prescott Valley on the way home.  J&G seems pretty low on stock from their website, but I may stop anyway.

Good morning - Get up and enjoy the day everyone -

Oh I'm up.  Wife wants to go to Phoenix today and enjoy the sales.  She'll tire out early though.  I'll check otu sale prices on 10/22s for the little project I've got in mind.  Otherwise no gun stuff planned for today.

I did get a call from a guy I work with after I logged off last night  though.  His brother isn't allowed to have a gun in the house by his gf--so he dug his .22 rifle out of my co-worker's garage and wanted to sell it.  A (supposedly barely used ) Remington 597 (OH WHY C OULDN"T IT HAVE BEEN ANYTHING ELSE????)

Anyway, I said I'd buy it for $75--they don't even know if they want a bill of sale or not.  I told him I'd write one up for him to make him feel better.  Why can't I work with people who have an old Colt or Smith or Garand or some cool war trophy they are afraid of?

Oh well, enjoy your leftovers all--I always liked leftovers!

Cool - You're on top of things - How was Turkey dinner? Done yet - My family is just starting to arrived -

Since it would be unreasonable for my wife to cook--and my son and I are incompetent in the kitchen, the 3 of us went to Boston Market.  It was pretty good, but nothing like it was when my wife was able to cook and my daughter still lived close enough we could make it a real get-together for Thanksgiving.

I hope you enjoy your time with your family.  Keep in mind you never know how many of these there are in your (or their) future, so make the most of each one.

Speaking of 10/22 - Have you seen the conversion Ojisan is doing? Thompson kit - Looks excellent - He's trying to get it to market by Xmas - He had a picture of it in the now locked thread about nothing -

I've read what y'all have said about it here, and it seems you're pretty excited about the possibilities.  I'm waiting for you guys to go through the 1st set of kits so I can see what ideas you come up with, then I may jump in later and try it.

It's been clear all day here Vegas - Should be clear the entire weekend also - Weather should clear up for you also then - Not a system in sight -

Good News!  Thanks.  Wife wants to go shopping in Phoenix tomorrow; Sports Authority sales guy said they'd have 10/22s on sale for about  $175/180.  If they do, I think I'll pick one up and do one of those folding stock assault type things with it.  I've never done  that.  J&G seems to be pretty low on stock now, so I think I'll take a shorter route home and avoid Prescott.

Wow - Sorry to hear about that - Here in Berkeley? The new thing is that they know we all keep things in our cars - Laptop, GPS, ect. -

Those pies look delicious - I like the CG on top - I wish I can make it tomorrow but there's just not a way for me to do it -

You guys have a great Turkey dinner and have fun meeting folks and shooting tomorrow -

Yeah, up by the Clairemont.

The scary thing is that we had the guns in the trunk, I thought they were safe. Glad they didn't look in there. Never leaving guns in my car unattended ever again.
So bummed you can't make it tomorrow. :( Maybe we can hang out sometime this weekend anyway.

Hi all, hope your Thanksgiving is going well.

Angie,  sorry to hear about the break-in.  That's infuriating.  BTW, I have about 5 handguns and 2 rifles in my trunk now.  I'm not at all worried here even though there's a highway right outside the front door.  I'd never leave  anything valuable in the pickup overnight at home though.

It's still raining here off and on.  Is it clearing up there?  I'm hoping for some nice weather to shoot with my son and some friends before I have to go back to Vegas.

Hi all, got done packing for the weekend so I thought I'd check in and read up on what's been going one.  So, I see this:
Its official now. Its raining in SoCal.
I knew it was likely, but I was hoping.  There probably won't be any rain here in Vegas, but I'm headed down to AZ for the holiday and it usually begins raining there the day after it begins in SoCal.  I was taking a couple of new guns with me so my son can shoot them.

I hate shooting in cold rain. >:(

What part of AZ?

Wickenburg--are you headed out that way?

I don't really believe in astronomy.  My 1/2 aunt, she was really in to the 70's though.  I do believe she mentioned screwing a dude from every zodiac sign!   :o

Don't forget, mark your calndars, MC's cumpleanos is DEC 4th.  I accept ammo!

I sure hope you meant to say 'astrology'

Anyone have a need for these?

http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/showthread.php?t=133419

I have a real hard time getting my head around the stories and travails you folks have with gun locks.  Those are things I've got several of that I've never used.  I have never bought one.  They have all come with a purchase; one was given to me in my CCW class.

Just walked in here - What's going on Guna? How was the weekend hunt?

It was ok. One highlight was I finally seen some Big Horn Sheep alive in the wild for the first time in my life. I saw 11 of them.

Just caught up on the thread.  Big Horn Sheep are impressive.  Years ago (mid 70s) when I lived in Oregon I did some work out at the Hart Mountain Antelope Refuge and there were quite a Big Horns out there.  It was unbelieveable to drive in and out of there.  One day my brother and I sat for nearly an hour while a huge herd of antelope crossed and milled on the road.  I suppose we could have honked the horn and driven through but we were mesmerized with that many game animals in one place--and no legal way to harvest any...

There's a guy on .net selling a couple of complete lowers with stock for something along the line of 550-650 - That's not bad - Just add your upper and done for around 1000-1100 -

What do you think of my Colt above - I can't stop touching it - LOL

Man, I'm a real lover of 1911s. My first pistol--way back in the 70s, was a Star 1911 copy in 9mm.  My 2nd pistol was a Colt, and I've always had at least one Colt since.  I once had a 9mm Commander and, like an idiot, sold it.  It's one of the few guns I've ever regretted selling.  Had I noticed yours was a 9, I'd have oohed and ahhed all over it.  Very wise purchase on your part!

Been saying that all along - Folks want to spend money - Let them -

Same here. People are freaking out about not being able to find stuff, I found everything people are looking for with a quick search. Its just a hype!

I'm thinking that's still true as well.  There are those occasional panic buyers who will pay $700 plus for a lower, but I'm giving a guy a call in Phoenix this Friday who claims, according to a friend, he's got a 'large order' (however many that is) of lowers coming in at $165 each.  If so, I'll have my son buy one then we'll watch for the rest of the parts.  I had wanted to buy him the parts for an AR 15 so he could build himself one for Xmas (or his birthday is Feb, his choice)  Maybe if we're patient and don't go nuts, we can still get it done without taking too many more weeks.
